Respite Provider – Columbia County

The External Respite Program at Northeast Parent & Child Society invites applications for Per Diem Respite providers for Columbia County and surrounding areas. This position provides critical respite services intermittent or regularly scheduled temporary care and/or supervision for foster placements.

Respite care provides parents, foster families and other caregivers with short-term child care services that offer temporary relief, improve family stability, and reduce the risk of abuse or neglect. Respite can be planned or offered during emergencies or times of crisis. Respite may be available to foster, kinship, and adoptive families, as well as birth families in need of support. Respite’s needed for after school, evening and weekend hours to provide recreational activities and serve in a mentoring role for children with mental illness and or behavioral/emotional challenges.

Skills/Qualifications: GED or high school diploma; reliable transportation; valid NYS driver’s license; experience working with youth with behavioral/emotional challenges.

Work schedule: Up to 20 hours/week, mainly nights and weekends.
